The Undergraduate Research Program
Research Pathway at Rutgers University – Newark (RP-RUN)
This is a comprehensive undergraduate research and education program, sponsored by a partnership between the Rutgers University School of Arts & Sciences-Newark and Rutgers Health – New Jersey Medical School at Newark, NJ. Students recruited into this competitive program will have the opportunity to perform rigorous biomedical research and receive mentored training in biomedical research and career development. Undergraduate students of Rutgers-Newark who aim to pursue a career in biomedical research, medicine, data science, or related disciplines are encouraged to apply. Faculty members who have active federally funded laboratories are welcome to participate in this program.
This is a semester-based and year-round program that calls for applications approximately one month before a new semester starts. A link to the application form will become active at this webpage when the Call-for-Application announcement goes out. Rutgers students who successfully submit the application by the deadline will fill out an application form that declare their research interest and interested labs. Students will be selected for interview by matched faculty members. Faculty will identify the final student after interview.
This program is currently supported by a Research & Education grant from the National Institute of Health / NIAID, supplemented by Rutgers internal fundings from various sources as well as private donors. The participating students will be supported with a stipend, and the hosting laboratory will receive a small supply fund to offset the laboratory cost for sponsoring a NEW pathway student.
